We're so proud of the announcement we made in Washington, D.C. to support hunger relief organizations with $2 billion through 2015. I'll be posting photos and videos from the event. In the meantime, please check out our press release and other information about the announcement. Also, the upper right hand of this page has a link where you can sign up to be part of our Fighting Hunger Together campaign. If you're on Twitter, use the hashtag #fighthunger and help us spread the word.

I hope you'll join us!

I feel the same way, Cherie. It felt like we were a part of something really big yesterday. And, most importantly, something that will change lives.

I am happy WalMart is making this committment but the website does not make it clear as to how you can get your organization funding. How are grantees being chosen?

Hi, Joanne. First of all, I'm glad to see comments on the blog! It's great to interact with everyone who has heard about our announcement. The Walmart Foundation funds groups in 3 ways--through national, state and local giving. Our state giving program can be accessed through walmartfoundation.org. It's an online application for funding. Additionally, our stores give to nonprofits in their communities and there are in-store applications for those grants. Hope this helps!

What a wonderful initiative - well done!

I sit on the board of a food bank here in Whitehorse, Canada. Do you know if there is anything planned or available for Canada?
