As promised, here is a video from the Operation Homefront Toy Shop near Fort Bragg in North Carolina. This was one of six toy shops set up across the country for military families to receive free toys for their children. It was so touching to see all the excited faces as military spouses “shopped” for free Christmas gifts. The personal shoppers (Walmart associates, Red Cross volunteers and Operation Homefront volunteers) really made the experience special. The personal connection that each of these volunteers made with the moms and dads that came to shop were gifts given and received. Sometimes in the frantic rush to get ready for Christmas, we forget about the gifts we have to offer in the form of a kind word or deed. Many small acts of kindness were exchanged on Friday. Gifts came in many sizes, all of which will help in some small way to make Christmas a little brighter for the 10,000 children opening packages on Christmas morning and the families sharing those special moments with them.
