Walmart and the Walmart Foundation are currently preparing to announce the second component of the Walmart Gives Back holiday giving campaign. While it’s time to think about our upcoming announcement, I took a second this morning to reflect on how our first announcement supporting hunger relief is impacting communities across the U.S. For example, we’ve been hearing great feedback, including comments on Twitter, from food banks who received a refrigerated truck and are thankful for the added amount of food they’ll be able to deliver now that they have proper resources. In fact, one food bank loved the donated truck so much they named it Wally! It’s heartwarming to read the responses and I hope that Wally is a valued and trusted part of the food bank’s team for many years to come!
Throughout the holidays, I hope we’re all reminded to continue to support the nonprofits around us that are helping people live better. Even spending a few hours volunteering at a local nonprofit can make a huge difference as they’re stretched thin during the holidays. In addition, last week’s Thanksgiving holiday is a great time to remind ourselves to be thankful for all we have. I wish you all a great December.
