I want you to meet Aline. Aline is 86 years old and lives alone on a pig farm in Sherill, Arkansas, total population of 127. Every day a Meals On Wheels volunteer drives 40 miles to deliver Aline her meal. That volunteer is the only person she sees in the course of a day…and brings her the only meal she will eat. If it wasn’t for her local Meals On Wheels program, Aline would go hungry.
Thanks to the support of Meals On Wheels and dedicated volunteers, Aline is able to stay healthy and stay in her home. She knows where her next meal is coming from, but there are still thousands of other seniors going hungry.
Most of us are about to enjoy a warm, nutritious Thanksgiving meal with our loved ones. I ask that you remember Aline and the seniors out there who desperately need our help and are spending Thanksgiving alone. I hope you decide to deliver, donate, or do anything you can to help us in our mission to end this terrible disease of hunger. Our seniors need us now more than ever.
