Biography

Major George E. Hood was commissioned as an officer in The Salvation Army in 1968 and has since followed a diverse career path that includes 25 years of non-profit leadership and an additional 15 years in private sector marketing and business administration.  Since 2003, Major Hood has served as the National Community Relations & Development Secretary for The Salvation Army in Alexandria, VA.  In this role he holds administrative responsibility for marketing communications, public relations, government relations, disaster services and corporate relations for The Salvation Army in the United States.

Throughout his professional career Major Hood has been an active member of Rotary International.  He also holds membership in the Direct Marketing Association and the Christian Management Association. Christian Leadership Alliance. Additionally, he is on the board of directors for the National Religious Broadcasters and the Indiana Wesleyan Seminary.

Born and raised in Hamilton, Ohio, Major Hood is a diehard Ohio State Buckeyes fan and an aficionado of Mickey Mouse memorabilia.  He is a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University and The Salvation Army College for Officer Training.  Major Hood has two children with his wife, Donna, the Associate Director for Development at The Salvation Army National Headquarters.
